Colophon

A colophon is the note a printer leaves at the back of a book saying how the thing in your hands was made. This one does the same job. Everything else here belongs to somebody else — a tradition, a translator, a study — and is presented without comment beyond what is happening in the text. These notes are the exception: they are about the collection itself, how it is put together, what it declines to do, and where it is thin.

They are not shelved under any situation and they do not appear in the daily set. The rule against ranking or adjudicating traditions applies to them exactly as it applies to everything else written here, and each one is read back against that rule before it publishes — the note says whether that has happened yet.

Nothing is published here at the moment. When there is something worth saying about how the collection is made, it will appear on this page. In the meantime the library is the collection itself, and About sets out the rules it is kept by.
