Reading for the current moment…
Every day
One reading per planetary day.
- SundaySun
- The Sun asks you to stop improving things for one day. The list will survive without you. Notice how much of the urgency was manufactured to avoid sitting still.
- MondayMoon
- The Moon puts a feeling in the way of a plan. Do not solve it. Some of what you are experiencing as a scheduling problem is simply tiredness, and it answers to rest rather than analysis.
- TuesdayMars
- Mars sharpens the criticism you have been holding back. There is a true version and a cutting version and they are only a few words apart. Take the extra minute to find the first.
- WednesdayMercury
- Your own day. Everything sorts. The task you have been avoiding because it looked tangled will come apart in about twenty minutes if you start it before ten.
- ThursdayJupiter
- Jupiter asks you to accept something that is not finished. The draft is good enough to send, the room is clean enough to sit in. Perfection today costs more than it returns.
- FridayVenus
- Venus asks for pleasure without a justification attached. You do not have to have earned the evening. Take it before you have finished the list, or you will not take it.
- SaturdaySaturn
- Saturn and you understand one another. Maintenance day: the small repairs, the accounts, the thing that has been making a noise. Deep and unfashionable satisfaction is available all afternoon.
Every week
One reading per quarter of the moon.
- New moonthe dark of the moon, the start of a cycle
- The dark moon is a clean page and you will want to plan it thoroughly. Plan it briefly instead. The first version of the system is always wrong and only contact with the work corrects it.
- Waxing moonfirst quarter, the moon filling
- Your quarter. Steady, exact, unspectacular progress compounds now in a way it does not at other points in the month. Protect the mornings and let the rest of the day be interrupted.
- Full moonthe moon at its brightest
- The full moon shows you every flaw at once, including in things that are fine. Write them down and do not act tonight. Tomorrow the list will be a third as long and twice as accurate.
- Waning moonlast quarter, the moon emptying
- Release the standard nobody set. Some of what you hold yourself to was inherited, and you have never once examined whether you agree with it. This is the week to check.
Every month
One reading per solar month.
- January
- Capricorn season is your kind of weather — quiet, structural, patient. What you set up now runs unattended for most of the year. Build the boring infrastructure first.
- February
- Aquarius season asks you to think in systems larger than your own. Someone else's method is better than yours in one specific respect. Finding out which is worth the discomfort.
- March
- Pisces season sits opposite and dissolves your categories. Nothing is quite sortable this month. Let one part of your life be untidy on purpose and see whether anything actually breaks.
- April
- Aries season is too fast and too loud and pushes you into acting before you have finished thinking. Occasionally this is exactly what you needed. Pick one thing and move on it unprepared.
- May
- Taurus season is the pleasant half of earth. Good food, steady work, nothing on fire. Use the calm to consolidate rather than to start; you have started plenty.
- June
- Gemini season shares your ruler and speeds everything up. Excellent month for writing, teaching and explaining. Say the complicated thing simply and people will remember you said it.
- July
- Cancer season asks you to care for someone without fixing them. Sit with it. The instinct to offer a solution is affection wearing a disguise, and the disguise is not always welcome.
- August
- Leo season is warm and demonstrative and rather a lot. Accept a compliment without deflecting it. One whole compliment, taken at face value, is the month's assignment.
- September
- Your season. Precision, usefulness and clear sight all sharpen at once. Aim them outward at a real problem rather than inward at yourself, and the month becomes one of the best of your year.
- October
- Libra season asks what you actually want, aesthetically and otherwise. You have opinions you have been treating as trivial. They are not trivial; they are just yours.
- November
- Scorpio season goes under the surface of something you had filed as resolved. It was not resolved, it was tidied. There is a difference and this month insists on it.
- December
- Sagittarius season is expansive and disorganised and you will want to manage it. Do not. Be a guest in someone else's plan for once, and let it be imperfect.
